Deborah Novak is a Senior Culture and Organizational Effectiveness Business Partner at Florida Hospital, Central Florida’s largest healthcare employer, with 22,000 employees; 9 hospitals; over 200 physician practices and urgent care centers, hospice, home care and outpatient physical therapy; and market share of 52%.

 

Deborah brings 20 years’ experience in inspiring healthcare executives and physicians to build and sustain high-performing teams that transform how healthcare is delivered, through executive coaching, assessment, customized change management strategies and implementations designed to produce sustainable outcomes.

Her recent accomplishments include partnering with a COO to launch a leader and team engagement strategy where all ambulatory areas recorded world class engagement. This initiative also fueled patient experience increases to above the 75th percentile over 3 quarters. She has presented at the Adventist Health system Patient Experience conference, and co-presented at the Florida Hospital Best Practice Summit with a clinical leader who scored the most improved engagement and patient experience scores in the Florida Hospital system. She also introduced a new leader onboarding initiative that supports reduction of time to productivity and boosts retention. Her executive coaching practice focuses on accelerating leader performance by building their comparative advantage through a strengths-based approach.

Deborah started her career at Massachusetts General Hospital as a Leadership Development consultant; worked in Provider Education at Blue Cross of Massachusetts as a Provider Education consultant increasing Physician and Staff satisfaction; partnered with the Chief Medical Director of BCBSMA’s clinics to reduce readmission costs for clinics for high-utilizing patients by $350,000/month; and was Director of Organizational Excellence for MacNeal Hospital (Chicago, Vanguard Market) where she improved Employee Engagement from 47th percentile to 77th percentile in 2 ½ years. She customized a patient safety training initiative that supported a reduction in sentinel events from one every 33 days to one every 78 days. She also taught Northwestern University’s Leadership and Organization Behavior course for working adults.

Deborah has a B.S. in Journalism from Boston University, and an M.B.A. in Organizational Development from Clark University. She holds certifications in Prosci Change Management, DDI Success Profiles Card Sort Analyst, The Marcus Buckingham StandOut Leadership Coach, Experience Point Change Simulation, and United Airlines Coaching for Leaders and Performance-Based Assessment.

She is a member of the Greater Orlando OD Network, American Society of Talent Development, and the American Change Management Association.
