CHICAGO (May 3, 2019) | BPI group, the global experts in leadership, talent, and career transition, today released its Executive Employment Trends Report Q1 2019, detailing executive hiring trends based on landing data collected on our Executive Transition Services (ETS) clients who completed their job search between Q2 of 2018 and Q1 of 2019.

The Executive Employment Trends Report Q1 2019 includes analysis of the average length of the executive job search, and how the length of the search is impacted by factors such as base salary level, education level, and age.

“Our data reveal that the majority of executives assessed their salaries as the same or better than their previous position, reflecting a highly competitive market for talent,” said Steve Spires, Managing Director, Career Services, at BPI group. “In addition, the age range of executives seeking their next chapter has risen, and more of our clients are choosing to start new businesses compared to the same period last year.”

Additional key findings include:

  • Consistent with previous findings, networking is the overwhelming means (61%) by which executive candidates source new opportunities.
  • Working with a search firm remains the least effective way to find a new opportunity.
  • The 61+ age group is 9% higher than the same period last year.
